Hearing specialists on Mexico mission to help kids, adults |

Local Boerne hearing care provider Jan Stearns and a team of volunteers are traveling to Tampico, Mexico and Reynosa, Mexico for a hearing mission June 18-20. The team will provide over 2,000 hearing aids to impoverished, hearing-impaired children and adults.
“There is an overwhelming sense of privilege to be a part of this effort,” said Stearns. “It is like having a front-row seat to witnessing lives changed. Children arrive unable to hear, and they leave hearing. The emotion is uncontainable.” The group consists of clinicians and patient care support staff from NewSound Hearing Aid Centers, the nation’s largest Audibel provider with over 40 locations in Central and South Texas. NewSound sponsors hearing missions each year with the Starkey Hearing Foundation. NewSound Hearing Aid Centers owner Randy Schoenborn was recently honored with the So the World May Hear Award for providing hearing aids to persons in need through his strong support of the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Audibel, a leading hearing technology company, presented the awards at its national symposium. The Starkey Hearing Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes hearing health awareness and provides hearing aids to persons in need worldwide. (by boernestar.com)
