David Oyler of Rogers recently was reappointed to the state Board of Hearing Instrument Dispensers.
It's an eight-member panel on which he's served on and off for much of the last two decades, Oyler said. The board regulates about 80 hearing-aid dispensers in the state, he said. "The state of Arkansas has a licensure board to regulate the people that sell, dispense and repair hearing aids in the state. Presently, I'm chairman of that board and I got reappointed by the governor. I run it pretty tough, you know. I don't put up with much. These people who are going to do this are going to do it right," Oyler said. To be a hearing-aid dispenser, people must have required college credits and pass a state board examination. Not many in the industry are not reputable but the panel he heads is there when it's needed, Oyler said. About 18 months ago he sold his hearing-aid business - Northwest Arkansas Hearing Aid Center in Rogers - but is still associated with the buyer, Oyler said. (by nwanews.com)
